“…Scott and Carla Stilson purchased their Houserville home in 2009. It is a modest-sized 1,600 sf (not including 600 sf basement) 3-bedroom rancher built in 1971. Their adjusted gross income was $25 – $50,000 at the time of install.
In 2010 they contracted SunDirected, a local PV installation company headquartered in Bellefonte, to install a 3.68 kW solar system over their new southeast-facing metal roof. Before getting into the financial performance of their investment, here are their responses to some questions posed to them in a recent interview concerning the reasons for their decision to go solar:
