(From CITY-GREEN Secretary Nari Soundarajjan)
CITY-GREEN Agenda – September 23, 2014, 7:00 PM – 8:30PM at New Leaf Initiative
- Approval of last meeting’s minutes – 5 min
- Public comment – 18 min
- Continued discussion on mission/vision statement and bylaws – 50 min?
- Review and possible vote on draft SCASD letter, encouraging renewable energy building design – 15 min. (9.14 CITY-GREEN to SCASD)
- Set date for next meeting – 2 min
From conversations with CITY-GREEN members over the last few months since the GUEP project fizzled out, the group appears to have become bogged down in governance crappola and goofy visioning exercises, so it’s entirely possible that the organization will dissolve this fall.
However, CITY-GREEN’s members achieved some very interesting results during their first few months of work together – most importantly, literally putting regional energy strategy on the Centre Region Council of Governments agenda and potentially into the 2016 COG budget.
So, even if this particular manifestation of community interest in participatory energy planning falls apart, it will leave behind extremely rich compost for the next crop of citizen-led energy projects. Kudos to the organizers and participants.
