9.5.14 Civility Message from Eric Barron

Is it possible for Penn State employees to lie to the University community in a “civil” manner?

Is it possible to withhold crucial information from the University community in a “civil” manner?

Or are lying and withholding crucial information about key University issues inherently violations of the “civility” standard, regardless of the tone of voice used to tell the lies and withhold the information?

Is it rude for members of the University community to point out instances of University employee lies and information withholding?

Or is it an act of caring, akin to telling a friend when he has spinach stuck in his teeth? (He might be mildly embarrassed in the moment, but appreciate the opportunity to avoid unnecessarily making a fool of himself to others.)
